3 held for abducting Nagaland IAS officer

Three men were arrested on Saturday for allegedly attempting to abduct an IAS officer posted in Nagaland after a minor brawl, a Chhattisgarh police officer said. The men, in their late 20s, tried to kidnap V. Shashank Shekhar from the Geetanjali Express train he was travelling in from Nagpur to Ranchi, Vivekanand Sinha, superintendent of police, said. Shekhar is posted in Nagaland. “Shekhar had a brawl with Saurav Baghwani (one of the accused) over a berth in the train on early Saturday,” Sinha said. “When the train reached Raipur, Saurav’s two friends, Deepak and Suresh, boarded it”, and the three kidnapped the officer from the Bilaspur junction. They then took him in a vehicle towards Raipur. But Shekhar alerted the police at a busy square in Bilaspur near a traffic signal. The arrested youths belong to Raipur, the police officer said.
