Rumours of bombs being planted in two places–one each in Dimapur and Kohima – sent panic waves among citizens of the two towns on Thursday. In Dimapur, some people started calling up police stating that a bomb was found near Pranabananda Women’s College. Police, along with the bomb squads immediately rushed to the area and launched a thorough search in the area. However, no explosives were found, police said. A situation was also created in the State capital when some people started circulating rumours that some bombs were planted in between Razhu Point and High School junction. In this case too, police searched various locations but could not find any bomb or explosives. Meanwhile, police urged public not to panic on hearing such news but to immediately inform the police so that police could verify the authenticity of such reports. Police also requested the public to inform police if they come across any abandoned, unclaimed or suspicious items.
