A newspapers vehicle of the Nagaland Post on its way up to Kohima from Dimapur, was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction near Zubza bridge, some 17 kms away from Kohima Saturday morning around 5.30 a.m.
According to the report, the vehicle, moving on a straight stretch was hit by a truck (AS05/3807) coming on the wrong side and in full speed. To avoid a head on collision, the driver of the press vehicle immediately applied brakes and his vehicle skidded some 25 feet. The oncoming truck rammed the press vehicle and completely damaged the front portion of the vehicle on the driver’s side.
Both occupants of the press vehicles sustained serious injuries. The driver of the truck reportedly fled from the spot after the accident.
Later, traffic police personnel from Kohima also arrived and inspected the accident site.
