Environmental issues prog underway

DIMAPUR: A three-day programme on ‘Environmental issues and development’ got underway on April 4 at ATI, Kohima with 45 participants.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Abhishek Prakash IAS, joint secretary, home department encouraged the participants to take the training seriously and disseminate the knowledge gained to every person.
The participants comprising mostly college students were also asked to give their contact details so they can take part as volunteers during mock drill and disaster management activities at different levels.
He further motivated the participants to strive for a better future, adding the journey that leads to something good is always difficult. Jonny, state project officer, disaster risk reduction programme gave a brief introduction to disaster risk reduction (DRR) and urban risk reduction programme which is currently being implemented by the home department, government of Nagaland and sponsored by GOI-UNDP. The main resource person for the three-day programme, Janbemo, president, Green Foundation, Wokha, introduced the course in brief to the gathering.
The inaugural function was chaired by Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu, state coordinator, disaster management cell, ATI and vote of thanks by Er. N. Moa longkumer, associate professor, disaster management cell, ATI.
