Home minister Imkong L. Imchen Tuesday informed in the house that additional security personnel have been deployed in the State capital Kohima and Dimapur.
In violence-hit Dimapur, the minister said eight companies of IRB, one company each of regular Indian Army, Assam Rifles and CRPF have been deployed, while in Kohima, four companies of IRB and paramilitary forces were deployed. Additional IRB, Assam Rifles and CRPF personnel were also deployed as and when the need arose, Imchen said.
The minister also informed that regular “flush out” operations were being conducted against underground cadres in most of the districts resulting in the arrest of cadres and seizure of arms and ammunitions. He said these joint operations had been facilitated to a great extent by the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP).
He further said the constitution of the State ‘Level Strategy Group (SLSG) and District Level Co-ordination Committee (DLCC) proved to be effective mechanism to review, discuss and formulate strategies, thus providing a holistic approach to tackle various security issues.
It had also enabled the effective participation of civil administration, NGOs and local tribal bodies by providing a medium to amicably discuss and formulate measures to tackle any emerging law and order problem, Imchen added.
