Responding to news report “Text book crisis hits govt schools in Dmu”, published in this daily February 9, the state education department today said the shortfall could be due to “exclusive of new recognized schools enrollment 2010.” In a press rejoinder, the state education department additional director N.Khevito Sema said as per the enrollment submitted by DEO and DIS Dimapur, the books were issued to them as supplied by the publishers. The additional director, however, asserted that shortfall would be provided in “due course of time.” Further, he highlighted that 31182 books, as per the enrollment of 2010, were issued to DIS Dimpaur: 6548 Class-A, 4238 Class-B, 4594 Class-1, 4053 Class-2, 3794 Class-3, 2744 Class-4, 2359 Class-5, 1136 Class-6, 977 Class-7, 739 Class-8. The additional director also pointed out that 2953 books were issued to DEC Dimpaur: 553 Class-5, 809 Class-6, 786 Class-7 and 805 Class-8.
