Naga Peoples’ Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) has appreciated the wisdom demonstrated by leaders of Naga political groups – GPRN/NSCN, NNC/FGN and NSCN/GPRN – for their renewed commitment to reconciliation process led by FNR. “Their sacrifices and roles towards achieving meaningful peace will be remembered by all,” a statement issued by NPMHR general secretary Dr.Gina Sangkham said and thanked FNR for their patient efforts towards securing peace among the Nagas. “At this time, when seemingly faced with insurmountable challenges, NPMHR is encouraged by their commitment to Peace and Reconciliation,” it said. Meanwhile, the Rights movement said it was concerned by “intermittent outbreaks” of violence and confrontations, and the concomitant self-justifications and blame game among different political groups, particularly those who have signed the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR). Pointing out that violence affected not just the parties at confrontation but the public at large, the NPMHR urged all political groups to abide by CoR and refrain from violence. “NPMHR also would like to remind everyone every Naga has a stake in the process and therefore must continue to support the process,” it said.
