Garbage problem main agenda of Kma DPDB meet

The monthly meeting of Kohima District Planning & Development Board was held on April 15 at deputy commissioner’s Conference Hall, Kohima under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner, Kohima, Bei-u Angami.
Convener, advisory board, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) Y. Chuba Ao presented a paper on vital issues concerning the capital town.
Speaking on sanitation problem concerning the state capital, Y. Chuba said garbage was often seen overflowing from dustbins in every colony and town, and stated although efforts were being made by Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) to dispose off wastes everyday.
However, he said two colonies in Kohima namely Merhülietsa and Lower Chandmari have been declared as dustbin free zone whereby garbage is being collected house to house by a moving truck, and further advocated for more such dustbin free zones with the assistance of more vehicles to carry on with collecting garbage work.
He also pointed out on improvements to be made in Keziekie market and suggested board to examine the matter regarding uniforms for taxi/bus drivers and also harped on beautification of capital town.
He requested all offices/departments/institutions/churches etc., to maintain cleanliness and adopt beautification programmes in their own premises and called upon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) to look into the matter.
Officers from various departments also shared their views regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, additional deputy commissioner (ADC )Planning, Ketoho Luho appraised the house on implementation of village vision cell.
He said the board has been receiving encouraging number of models from various villages and was hopeful that the Village Vision Cell under the theme ‘Back to the Roots’ would be a good exercise for the benefit of the people.
