The Nagaland University Research Scholars Forum (NURSF) Kohima staged a protest at Meriema Campus Tuesday sporting black badges and displaying placards for failure of a concrete positive response from the Vice Chancellor’s office.
NURSF stated the Forum submitted an ultimatum to the VC’s Office on September 2, in regard to UGC Fellowship scheme. However following the lack of response from the concerned authority, the Forum submitted an ultimatum to the VC to rectify and resolve the issue in question immediately on or before September 13, and failing to take any course of action thereafter, the Forum stated it would not be held responsible.
Stating it had submitted several petitions in the form of proposals, appeals, reminders and memos followed by discussion of assurances from his authority for the last two years, the Forum strongly expressed resentment against the callous attitude of the VC’s Office in resolving the issue even after repeated pleas and requests.
It said the scheme was meant for M. Phil/ Ph.D scholars who are not in receipt of any financial assistance during their research period and further pointed out that scholars were on the verge of finishing their research work. Meanwhile, NURSF has decided to take its next course of action on September 17. The Forum has requested all research scholars of Nagaland University to be present at Lumami Campus before 9am on September 17.
