Farmers training on soil conservation

The department of soil & water conservation conducted two day farmers training on September 8 and 9 at the office of the district soil conservation office Mokokchung.
The keynote address was deliberated by Imtiyongdang Ao DSCO Mokokchung on the aims and objectives of the integrated land development project.
He also emphasized on the soil hazards and urged the gathering to take up the soil conservation measures for sustainable and upliftment of socio-economic condition of the farming community. The resource persons were Imtiyongdang Ao DSCO Mokokchung, Lily Tep SDO (Soil) Changtongya and Senlichila Jamir SDO (Soil) Mangkolemba covering on the topics – importance of land development of bench terracing, concepts and technologies of water harvesting pond, importance of soil survey & testing, nature & characteristics of manure, vermin-culture and uses of vermin compost and cultivation of crops in developed areas. Altogether 30 farmers from 11 villages attended the training program.
