Rio unveils Medziphema ADC HQ complex

Medziphema sub-division, also known as the “Rice bowl of Nagaland” and famous for its pineapples, was upgraded from SDO headquarters to ADC headquarters with chief minister Neiphiu Rio unveiling the foundation stone of the new ADC headquarters complex site, a couple of kilometers away from Medziphema town, on Thursday.
Later addressing a large gathering comprising mostly of villagers from twenty three villages under Medziphema sub-division at VFA ground, the chief minister said Medziphema sub-division with twenty one government departments, three banks and more than thirty schools, had all the basic infrastructure for development.
Rio however noted that the present pace of development and progress in Medziphema town was slow and said a master plan for Medziphema town should be worked out to convert the “sleeping town’ into a thriving town.
He called upon the villagers and public of the area to cooperate with the administrative officers posted in the area so that Medziphema grows into a prosperous area and not dependent on Dimapur all the time. Rajya Sabha MP Khekiho Zhimomi, the guest of honour, in his address said the benefits of upgradation of the sub-division should be enjoyed by all inhabitants of Medziphema, irrespective of tribes or community. Various other speakers including legislators also spoke on the occasion.
MLA representing 5 Ghaspani-II A/C, K Hollohon, thanked the chief minister for showing his concern for the welfare of Medziphema people by upgradation of the sub-division. Commissioner, Nagaland, HK Khullu said Medziphema was economically, one of the most prosperous areas in Nagaland.
Chakhroma Public Organization president Zasilhouto Makritsu said Medziphema area had been neglected for a long time despite the region having immense potential in terms of natural and human resources. The CPO also submitted a 6-point memorandum to the chief minister.
Highlights of the function included songs and cultural items presented by various groups and tribes.
The function chaired by DC Dimapur Maongwati Aier, started with invocation offered by Rev. Megovotuo Kuotsu, and SDO (C) Medziphema, Linda Solo proposed vote of thanks.
Among others, the function was attended by Nagaland Assembly Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie, Forest minister MC Konyak, Agriculture minister Dr. Chumben Murry, parliamentary secretaries Vikho-o Yhoshu and Y Patton, MLAs KL Chishi, K Hollohon and Shetoi and Dimapur Municipal Council members.
