Stall owners at Heritage vill notified

In pursuance to the provisions under section 5 and 7 of the Prevention of Food Adulteration (PFA) Act 1954 and section 4 of Nagaland Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules 1985, Directorate of Health Services, Food Health Authority has prohibited the sale, exposure for sale of adulterated, misbranded and sub-standard food items including imported sweet meats during the ‘Hornbill Festival’ at Heritage village (Kisama) and the state capital.
In a release issued by Dr. T.L Nakhro, Directorate of Health Services, Food Health Authority, conditions for stall owners are that utensils used for preparing of any food items for sale must be kept in clean, sanitary condition, utensils containing any food item intended for sale must have tight fitting cover, fast foods, fast perishable food items (meat, poultry, fish products, and ethnic food items) must are to stored at a temperature of 60°C and above or to be kept frozen, overnight perishable food items, fat foods must not be re-processed and sold, kitchen, eating places must be kept clean and in hygienic condition, clean and filtered drinking water must be provided and baked, packaged food items must be properly labeled (i. e. date of manufacture, best use before, place of production etc.)
Should there be non-compliance to this notification; the release added it would be tantamount to offence punishable under section 16 of the mentioned Act.
In the interest of public health, the public have been directed to check the label properly before purchase, and food inspectors and laboratory personnel to take necessary arrangements.
