A combined force of Dimapur police, IRB and Assam Rifles personnel carried out surprise raids at Niu Colony and Ao Kashiram and recovered assorted ammunitions, Tuesday morning.
A senior police official told Nagaland Post that raids were conducted simultaneously in the two colonies Tuesday around 7 a.m and the exercise lasted two hours. While the raid at Niu colony drew a blank, security forces recovered assorted ammunitions and other items from Ao Kashiram.
The recovered ammunitions and items kept at West Police Station included 190 rounds of AK-47, 74 nos. cartridges (pellets), 12 rounds of 9mm pistol, one round of .38 pistol, 5 Chinese hand grenade, 12 safety fuse, 5 detonators, 3 mobile batteries, one mobile charger and 12 badges (insignias) of the NSCN.
Meanwhile, police informed that they would continue to conduct combined raids in and around Dimapur, to flush out underground activists.
