Rengmas celebrate Ngada festival in Dmu

Jubilation filled the air, as Ngada festival of Rengma community was celebrated Friday at Borlengri playground, Karbi Anglong. chief guest of the occasion Mongol Sing Engti, chief executive member, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council stressed on the importance of preserving culture and tradition while calling upon the Karbi’s and Rengma’s to live in harmony.
Mongol also said that he would look into memorandum submitted to him by Rengma community and assured them of his possible assistance, especially on construction of bridge over Lengri stream of Nagaland border for greater interest of both sides of the border.
Guest of honour, Longki Timung executive member (KAAC) in charge food, civil supplies and soil, while extending his festive greetings to the Rengma people urged them to maintain their own identity as in indigenous dress and culture. Khillo G. Rengma, president western Rengma Hoho who also graced the occasion highlighted the significance of the festival.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Resulo Rengma Ex-Executive member KAAC, David Seb, chairman border area development KAAC and Azuto Semy chairman Rengma Gaon.
Colourful cultural programmes like Ngada dance and folk songs by various troupes and special musical piece ‘Kun or Atoku’ by Rongsenle Nsu of Kedaphen gaon, Karbi Anglong brought the celebration to a close.
