Zeliangrong Union of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland Friday alleged that one M.Thomas of Zeliang colony, Burma camp, Dimapur was detained and tortured by four to five cadres of GPRN/NSCN December 26 last at around 10 p.m. in suspect of kidnapping of Hariram Gupta for ransom by miscreants.
Condemning in “strongest term”, the ZU (AMN), in a statement issued by its general secretary K Poushinglung, said: “arrest of mistaken identity of innocent public and random torture and harassment is condemnable by all walks of life.” The apex Zeliangrong union also said that the incident occurred in the presence of victim’s wife and children at his residence during Christmas. “The trauma and fear psychosis ridden in the family members of the victim can not be erased forever,” the ZU (AMN) said.
Meanwhile, the ZU (AMN) demand from the responsible authority to reimburse the expenditure of medical treatment to the victim at the earliest and initiate appropriate action against those cadres involved.
