State’s broom in high demand

The inaugural program of products of Self Help Group products of Confederation of Naga Farmer’s Union (Farmer’s Wing) Mokokchung Division was held at the New Shopping Complex Mokokchung.
The inaugural was graced by Lanukaba President Confederation of Naga Farmer’s Union as the chief guest.
The broom, the product of the Self Help Group, according to the Farmer’s Wing is perhaps the best item and the only one to be exported from Nagaland high demand not only in the national market but internationally, though the demands cannot be met at present.
However, it is expected that in the coming years, the product would be increased to meet the demands.
Delivering his speech, the chief guest said broom market was one of the biggest in the world and further added that through the product, employment opportunities would be generated and economy of the rural areas of Nagaland uplifted.
He also said the product would be exclusively sold from the state’s own resources.
He also expressed hope that through broom business, the state would enter in the export map.
The chief guest further disclosed that at present, the demand for brooms were about 3 lakh in 3 months in the market with a focus to meet the demands.
Speaking about the importance of Self Help Groups in this aspect, the chief guest said Self Help Groups will play an important role.
The inaugural program was attended by members of 6 Self Help Groups, Naga People’s Front officials and officials of Farmer’s Wing Mokokchung Unit.
