Two held for extortion

DEF personnel of Mokokchung Police arrested two extortionists on Saturday evening at around 7:30pm at Settsu gate.
The duo was arrested after they reportedly extorted a sum of `5000 from a truck that was coming to Mokokchung from Longtho at around 3:30am on Saturday morning at Yimyu.
The arrested has been identified as Anato 25years son of Visheto of Litami village and Avika son of late Kaito of Lumitsami village both under Zunheboto district.
According to investigation officer, PS II Mokokchung, Anato brought his friend to Mokokchung promising him to bear expenses including fooding and lodging.
It was also reported that Anato managed to stop the truck and demanded money from the driver claiming to be an underground cadre, while his friend Avika was at a workshop early Saturday morning to repair their bike.
I/O informed the whole incident happened without the knowledge of Avika and that the arrested were mere farmers and not linked with any of the underground factions.
The arrested duo is in police custody and further investigations are on.
