Silent procession against May 27 shooting incident

Watsü Mungdang, Kohima (WMK) unit will organize a “silent procession” on June 1 against the attempt on the life of Imtila Jamir, allegedly by one Worshim Tangkhul and his accomplice on May 27 at Kohima. Mungdang president Dr. Watikala and general secretary Atola Imchen have notified all Ao citizens of Kohima to participate in the scheduled procession. All the women of Ao tribe have also been directed to assemble at Classic Point, near Red Cross Building, Kohima at 8.30 a.m. in traditional attire. WMK also requested and invited all tribal women organisations to extend their support by participating in the procession. In another statement, the Kohima Ao Union has also informed all Ao citizens of Kohima to participate in the procession. Further, all employees (government and private) of the Ao tribe are requested to avail casual leave on June 1, 2011 to participate in the said procession. All have been directed to assemble at Classic Point near Red Cross Building, Kohima at 8.30 a.m. The union also invited all peace loving citizens and well-wishers to extend their support and participate in the said procession.

AMK: Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho (AMK), apex body of all Angami women, Monday expressed shock over the “barbaric assassination bid” on the life of Imtila Jamir.
Condemning the act of violence committed on a peace loving citizen, AMK demanded the administrative authority to immediately book the culprits and award befitting punishment, so it would serve as deterrent and prevent such ugly incident from occurring again in future.
“We are thankful that God preserved the life of Imtila Jamir in a wonderful way,” AMK president Salhoutuonuo Kruse and general secretary Avonuo Theünuo said in a statement, and prayed that God grant her a speedy recovery.
NWHD: The Naga women hoho Dimapur (NWHD) also strongly condemned the life attempt on Imtila Jamir. NWHD president Hukheli T. Wotsa, expressing concern over the incident, Monday appealed to the authority in-charge to arrest the culprit and punish as per the law. The hoho president said “women and children are no more safe in our land.”
TUK: Tangkhul Union Kohima (TUK) strongly condemned the assassination bid made on the life Imtila Jamir by Worhsim and his accomplices on May 27. In a release the TUK termed the act as “cowardice, barbaric and heinous”, and further appealed to all sections to cooperate with the law enforcing authority to apprehend the criminal and award befitting punishment with showing any leniency.
LPRHP: Lower PR Hill Panchayat (LPRHP) also condemned the assassination bid on Imtila Jamir by Worhsim Tangkhul and his accomplice. The union appealed to the law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprits and stern action taken against them.
DMST: Dimapur Mongsenyimti Senso Telongjem (DMST) strongly condemned the life attempt on Imtila Jamir, May 27 at her residence in Kohima. Describing the act as “devilish” against an innocent woman, DMST has urged all citizens and organizations to condemn it, and further said that it would not remain silent. DMST also appealed to the law enforcing authorities to apprehend the culprits and award befitting punishment as per the law.
MMST: Mongsenyimti Metsubo Semchir Telongjem (MMST) strongly condemned the life attempt on Imtila Jamir. Terming the incident as “savage” and “uncivilized” committed by one Worshim Thangkul and his accomplice, MMST has urged the law enforcing agencies to act swiftly and nab the accused with punishment as per the law.
KAOF: Kohima Ao Officers’ Forum (KAOF) has condemned the life attempt on Imtila Jamir, former member and ex-general secretary of the forum. KAOF describing the act as heinous, appealed the law enforcing agencies to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice at the earliest.
