United Naga Council (UNC) has condemned the abduction of K. T. Joseph of Rosofii, Purul village by unidentified miscreants from Lamphel, Imphal on November 22.

In a press release, UNC has urged concerned authorities to “spare no effort” to rescue Joseph and award “befitting punishment to the perpetrators”. It added this crime committed in the heart of Imphal and in broad daylight reflected the “lawlessness that is ruling the society”.

Meanwhile, Senapati district students’ association (SDSA) Sunday has also appealed for the “immediate and safe release of KT Joseph”. It has requested “those responsible organisation/individual” to consider the matter on humanitarian ground. Expressing deep concern over the abduction, SDSA further said that kidnapping or “forceful detention” of any innocent person is not justifiable.

It may be mentioned that KT Joseph was serving as the PA to Manipur Education and sports minister DD Thaisii. He was abducted near Directorate fishery office Lamphalpat while dropping his daughter to school.
