11 bands selected for Nagaland Art Fusion 2011

DIMAPUR, APR 23: Seven bands were selected out of the 15 bands that took part in the screening test for the 7th edition ‘Best of the Best’ Nagaland Art Fusion 2011 on Saturday.
Bands from Mokokchung, Kohima, Peren and Dimapur took part in the screening test.
The screening test was held at Dimapur Club Hall with L. Asangla Pongen as the judge. It may be mentioned that Asangla won the best music service awads from center of music education, Bangalore in the year 2010. Currently she’s a music teacher at Maple Tree School, Dimapur.
The winner of the contest would represent North East on June 21 at Dimapur Club in celebration of ‘World Music Day’ under the banner ‘Summer Festival’.
The selected bands are- Hybrid Theory, Switch Blade, Razzle, Deciet in Chains, Dra 2 Domain, Meadow Saffron, Trappist, Darkest Side Reavel, ‘D’ Notes, Deafen and Off Beats.
Meanwhile, on Saturday as a good will gesture by the Army towards the people of Nagaland, GOC 3 Corps Lt. Gen Dalbir Singh, AVSM, VSM as part of operation sadbhavana under MCA project and to promote youngster, talented in the field of music, provided musical instrument and sound equipments to Mind Blowers Club.
On behalf of GOC 3 Corps the musical instrument was handed over to president and founder of the Club, Yangerla Jamir in the presence MBC society by Lt. Col Sameer Talwar at Dimapur Club.
It may be mentioned that the project was executed by 69 engineer regiment under the guidance of Brig. Rajesh Tyagi.
Mind Blowers Club was established in 2005 by a group of educated young ladies after it felt the need to promote the importance of music in the society, especially for the youth’s welfare.
With the view to work with the advancement and promotion of music in Nagaland on the motto, “For the upliftment of local talents”, MBC was formed.
Since its inception, the club has been organizing state level competitions.
MBC’s main objective is to lay platform for those talented musicians, and encourage and showcase their gifted talent in the field of music.
Meanwhile, the managing committee of the club has expressed gratitude to GOC 3 Corps, Lt. Gen Dalbir Singh AVSM, VSM and to army officials, staff, suppliers, etc., for donating PA systems, musical instrument sound equipments to the Club.
