State Consumer Helpline launched

Coinciding with the observation of “World Consumer’s Right Day’, State Consumer Helpline (SCH)- an alternative consumer disputes redressal mechanism was launched on December 24 at Old Assembly Secretariat, Kohima by Justice Zelre Angami (Rtd. High Court Judge) President Nagaland State Consumer Disputes  Redressal Commission.

Speaking at the launching programme, Zelre expressed happiness on being associated with the inauguration of the SCH for the consumers in the state.

He highlighted that for the purpose of obtaining information and advice on consumer related matter, a consumer could have access to SCH through SCH toll free number (as toll free no. 1800-345-3701).

While appreciating the government of India for giving all the support to the scheme of setting up SCH, he also lauded the department of legal metrology and consumer protection for taking initiative in setting up SCH in partnership with Nagaland voluntary consumer organisation (NVCO).

He also congratulated the secretary (food and civil supplies, legal metrology and consumer protection) and his team of officials, joint controller Beio M. Kuotsu and assistant controller present today and president of NVCO Kezhokhoto Savi and his team for making the establishment of SCH a reality in the state.

Earlier, Kezhokhoto Savi presented a key note address and also read out the message of chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio in marking the National Consumer’s Day.
