After helping husband Michael Douglas, through his throat cancer battle, Catherine Zeta-Jones has sought treatment in a mental health facility.
Her spokesman confirmed Wednesday that the actress, 41, made “a brief stay” in a clinic in Connecticut earlier this month.
“After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder,” Zeta-Jones’ rep says in a statement to People.com. “She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films.”
According to WebMD.com: “Bipolar II disorder is similar to bipolar I disorder, with moods cycling between high and low over time. However, in Bipolar II disorder, the “up” moods never reach full-on mania. The less-intense elevated moods in Bipolar II disorder are called hypomanic episodes, or hypomania. …
