SCHE organises tobacco cum drug addiction awareness camp

Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) youth department in collaboration with ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) conducted “tobacco cum drug addiction camp” for the students and street children at Institute of Development and Leadership (IDL) building, River Belt Colony on November 27. District Nodal Officer National Tobacco Control Programme Dr. C. Tetseo was the resource person, assisted by Dr. Arenla. 
Dr. Tetseo pointed out the addictive nature of tobacco and drug. He said that tobacco has many poisonous ingredients which caused various diseases including lips, windpipe and throat cancer. In terms of second hand smoker, he remarked that it affected ear, causes pneumonia, asthma, TB in children and abnormality in babies when inhaled by pregnant women.
Don Bosco Hr. Sec. vice-principal Fr. Michael Hriiyio Phimu exhorted the participants to avoid all types of tobacco and drugs related products and stay healthy.  Youth director of SCHE Fr. Christudoss Anthony welcomed the resource person, guests and all the participants. He mentioned that tobacco and drugs was ruining health, morality, future and lives of our people in general. He stressed that all right thinking people should cooperate with government’s effort to eradicate tobacco use and create a healthier society and brighter future for our younger generation.
