Khar Gazetted Officers’ Union celebrates silver jubilee

Silver jubilee under the theme, “new vision for the future” was celebrated by Khar Gazetted Officers’ Union (KGOU) on November 26 in the residence of its president, K. Mendang Jamir, senior accounts officers, treasuries and accounts at Oriental Colony, Dimapur, attended by officers from central & state government, PSU’s, retired officers and invitees. 
Commissioner of Taxes, Asangba Chuba Ao while speaking on the theme, gave a clarion call to the members to gain respect from the people they serve, attain professionalism and be aware of outside world. 
He also emphasized on imbibing good work ethic such as sincerity, hark work, discipline, inventory and competency to cater to the needs of the people. Encouraging officers, especially  the young officers, Asangba Chuba Ao said as officers delivering public service, the people should come first before self and should always be ready to take responsibility if a mistake was committed.
Delivering short speeches, Taliremba, IDAS, OSD Finance department, Kohima, and Imkongneken, additional director, Soil & Water Conservation emphasised to ponder upon whether “we have lived upto the expectation of the village if not there is a need to find out the weaknesses and should make an effort to rectify it”. They said everyone had a responsibility to work with a greater and collective force saying Khar Gazetted Officers Union was an elite group above all others.
Er. S.H Walling, former director, Geology & Mining one of the founder-member also spoke on inception of the union 25 years ago.
MLA, chairman, DAN & NBRM, Dr Longrineken who released the silver jubilee souvenir exhorted the officers to take more initiative to help uplift socio-economic condition of the village and appealed to them to recommit themselves to serve the people with probity, accountability and transparency. 
During the celebration one minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for those officers who had died since the inception of the KGOU.
Earlier in the general meeting, a new team of office bearers were elected and headed by Watichuchang, dy commandant,1st NAP, Chumukedima as president, Nungshilemba asst general manager NST as general secretary along with seven others.
