Eastern Bible College (EBC) celebrated its 38th graduation ceremony, Saturday here at Buntain chapel with associate pastor, Philadelphia Full Gospel Assembly, Reverend Varghese Muttathil as the guest speaker and executive secretary, SBAK, Pughoboto, Reverend Hotokhu P Zhimomi as the guest of honour. In his graduation address, Reverend Varghese Muttathil spoke about true Christian life based on the life of Noah, who he described as a man of grace, just, obedient and humility.
Asserting that Christians should emulate Noah, Muttathil said as Noah walked with God, Christians too should walk with God, as by doing so, they would be following God in their daily life. Pointing out Noah was an obedient man, Muttathil said many Christian leaders are disobedient and reminded all that God has called them for a special purpose for which He expects them to be obedient.
“As Christian leaders you must be obedient… let the Bible and Jesus be your example and life,” said Muttathil. Encouraging the graduating students to be just, Muttathil expressed hope that Christ would fill them with compassion to guide the dying souls. Reminding the graduating students that they were expected to build their family, church and society, Muttathil urged them to do so according to the “pattern” of God.
Cautioning the graduating students not to misuse “Christian influence”, Muttathil said as missionaries they could influence many “ordinary people” but also reminded them to be careful and not to take “advantage of the situation.”
He then asked them to “shine” for God saying if one’s life does not shine with the power of God it might not serve the God’s purpose. Special awards was also presented to the graduates while 12 students was conferred with master of divinity degree and 17 students with bachelor of theology degree by EBC principal, Reverend Dr. T N Lotha. Earlier, EBC year book was released by the guest of honour while the gathering was enthralled by the college choir with a song.
