One-day farmers training on Kharif oil seeds production was held on Wednesday at the office of the DAO Kiphire. Dr. Akashe V. Zhimomi Dy. PD (ATMA) and Hukai Zhimomi Dy.PD (ATMA) was resource person.
While delivering the keynote address, Renbomo Ngullie DAO & PD (ATMA) encouraged the farmers to keep a competitive spirit so as to compete with the advanced world. Resource person Hukai Zhimomi explained on the importance of soya beans, its utility, selection of varieties of seeds, distance selection for cultivation etc. He said soya beans which has high protein is used in different forms by the Nagas and further encouraged it should be given importance as it has high demand in the market.
He also explained on the importance of maize which he termed as an important staple food after rice, which is good for human consumption as well as for other purpose.
Dr. Akashe Zhimomi who was the co-resource person said farmers should not blame officers for their poor crop but rather report to them whenever the need arises as they are ever ready to offer help any time.
Earlier the program was chaired by Zhavisier Casavi AFA Kiphire and vote of thanks by C. T. Setsiba AFA Kiphire. More than 50 participants from Kiphire district attended the program.
