A training-programme on tailoring and embroidery organized by Touch Life Centre, a non-profitable organization was inaugurated on Friday by additional director Employment and Craftsman Training, Y. Vandanshan Lotha at Chumukedima.
Lauding the centre in its effort in imparting vocational training to the women and youth, additional director said that the department would encourage for establishing such centres in all the districts.
Touch Life Centre established in 2009 was selected by department of employment and craftsman training as a vocational training provider (VTP) under ‘Skill Development Initiative Programme’ funded by directorate general of employment and craftsman training, union ministry of labour.
For the first time in the state Touch Life Centre has been selected to impart vocational training, said additional director. He further maintained that to make the trainees more responsible and to achieve better results, nominal fee would be charged.
At the end of the training, the trainees would be awarded with certificates, and for this they have to clear exams, Lotha said.
The main objective of Touch Life Centre, Chumukedima is to provide vocational training to women and youth so that they can earn their livelihood.
