NPF president Dr. Sh?rhozelie Liezietsu has termed the victory of NPF in the recently held by-election to 26 Aonglenden AC has demonstrated in itself, the determination of the population for a change and also their inclination in favour of youths.
“This is indeed a sign of progress in the making of decision of a people,” Dr. Sh?rhozelie said in his address during the felicitation programme organized by the party for its newly elected legislator Toshipokba which was held at the NPF Party Central Office here Tuesday.
He also appreciated the wisdom of the electorate of 26 Aonglenden A/C for their decision. He said the electorate of Aonglenden would not regret their decision which would certainly push them forward in all round development with special bearing on their economic advancement.
He also credited the victory to the chief minister and his legislator colleagues and all rank and file of the party and congratulated them for their tireless effort which made the victory possible.
Further, Dr. Sh?rhozelie termed the victory as unique and an achievement of another milestone in the making of the history of the NPF party . He said the party looked forward to march ahead with the same zeal and team spirit which would assure successful venture even in future.
Lauding the electorate of 26 Aonglenden, he said “please take this step as the beginning so that you will grow from strength to strength in building the party in your district,” and claimed that their victory would also certainly influence other areas around them.
“Election is over and it is time for the party to put things at rest,” the NPF chief told the gathering. In an oblique reference to the Congress, he said that in every election the loser would normally lodge complaint even on small things or accuse others of infringing the election rules but added these were done as face saving device.
Also speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also termed the party victory as an acceptance of the DAN government policies and programmes by the people adding victory has created history for the party.
He said victory has defeated the re-appearance of the “Bedrock of Naga Society” and that Aonglenden have come out from their bondage and will now start work with the government.
“This victory will send a wave in the Naga inhabited areas,” he predicted.
On the Naga political issue, Rio said that the formation of the Joint Legislator Forum did not mean Congress and NPF has the same policy and approach.
While saying that the JLF has been on a low profile for sometimes due to the electioneering process, the chief minister urged the speaker to convene meeting of all sixty members of the house so forum cold resume their task.
Newly elected MLA Toshipokba, in his address, termed May 13 as a glorious day for him and NPF party, saying he had a dream to serve the people and that dream has come true through the collective effort.
“This is a harvest of collective effort as the party collectively fought against the giant National party Indian National Congress,” new MLA said.
Home minister Imkong L Imchen and R&B minister G Kaito Aye also spoke on the occasion.
