Chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday said that the top priority of his government was to bring permanent peace in Nagaland. He said only through peace in the land can there be progress and development.
Inaugurating the village council hall of Thizama village, Neiphiu Rio stated that the unresolved Naga political problem was a hindrance to permanent peace. He called upon the public to raise their voice to bring lasting solution to the Naga problem.
Rio also asserted that understanding between the underground factions would contribute towards bringing lasting peace. He stated that peaceful environment in the state would usher in rapid development and progress in many fields.
Short speeches were delivered by chairman of Kohima Village, Vilhouzhalie; ex-chairman of Thizama Village Council, Mhalelie; and NAPO president Vilieo. Songs were presented by women society of Ch?ziema village, Ruokuo and DGP band. The programme was chaired by Kezoneilie, village council chairman.
Various leaders, well wishers and officials also attended the programme.
