With reference to joint representation submitted to Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) for enhancement of beef rate, DMC rate fixation committee after a lengthy discussion reviewed fixed the rate as follows:-

Beef Rs. 130/- per Kg
Offal (Head, Hoof, Intestine, Rs. 100/-per Kg
Liver, spleen, kidney etc)
According to a press communiqué issued by DMC CEO, Orenthung Lotha, the prescribed rate was the maximum amount fixed by DMC and as such, butchers have been directed to provide quality and hygienic meat to customers.
DMC also directed butchers to install electronic weighing scale to avoid further complication and to ensure dust free and fly proof stalls, adding, no increase of price would be allowed without being substantiated by genuine documents.
The communiqué further stated that appropriate action as per provision of Act would be taken against defaulter (s) in case of failure to comply with the order.
