1 injured in Kohima

One person was injured when an unidentified person fired upon the latter near SP’s office Kohima, around 5.30 p.m. Thursday.

According to police sources, the victim identified as one Pito (29) sustained bullet injury on his leg. He was on a bike with his friend (who escaped unhurt) at the time of the incident, sources added.

The victim was later rushed to Naga hospital for medical assistance. Police were yet to ascertain the motive behind the shootout. Further investigation was on, police said. (Correspodent).

NSCN (K) clarifies
NSCN (K) has clarified that the person shot and injured near SP’s office, Kohima was “not a serving member of the NSCN/GPRN but a former cadre, Pito Muru, son of Yetoyi Muru of Thakiye village”.

NSCN (K) urban commander, Kohima Kisheto Aye said Pito was involved in “anti-social activities including extortions, vehicle-lifting particularly two-wheelers for which the NSCN had issued several warnings”. 

Aye said NSCN (K) had received several complaints about Pito– carrying out anti-social activities in the name of the NSCN.

In this regard, Aye said they tried to apprehend Pito while he was moving around in “a stolen motorbike”. 

“When he did not stop, our cadres shot at the tires of the bike during which he was injured in the leg”, Aye stated.

NSCN (K) chaplee ministry
In a press release issued by chaplee ministry through MIP, NSCN/GPRN said ‘lt. col.’ Isak Sumi has “not been found guilty of any misconduct under Article 3 (C) under NSCN Yezabo.

Expulsion of Lt. Col Isak Sumi does not arise at all. The matter has been thoroughly deliberated amongst secretariat staff NSCN/GPRN (consultation) with the concerned ministry (chaplee).

Therefore, the said notification (termination/expulsion order) remains nullified” said the chaplee ministry release.
