Shokhuvi village, one of the prominent villages in Aqahuto area under Dimapur district, inaugurated its village gate (Khagho) on October 7, with land resources, secretary Y. Kikheto Sema (IAS) as chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, chief guest in his speech emphasized on the significance of the gate as it was a point of entrance and exit of a village.
He was of the view that the word “welcome,”normally written on such gates, should exhibit the mannerisms of the inhabitants of the village to visitors.
Kikheto said Shoxuvi village was a thoroughfare for many especially the Zeliang community thereby he appealed the villagers to let any outsiders pass through the village comfortably and peacefully.
“We Nagas cannot separate each other as we are inter-related and we should live in harmonious unity,” Kikheto added.
The inaugural programme was attended by Western Sumi Hoho, president, Zheshito Swu, president, Sumi Officers’ Union Dimapur, Er. Ghukhuyi Zhimomi, and a host of officers and public leaders.
Earlier, dedicatory prayer for the village gate was pronounced by Sumi Baptist Convention (SBC) director Rev. Dr. Khehovi Shohe. Shoxuvi village, head GB, Ghotovi Zhimomi expressed gratitude to the chief guest for extending support to the village and gracing the occasion.
