Free health camp concludes

After the three-day long health camp organised in District Hospital Dimapur (DHD), the attending doctors’ analysis indicated steep increase in tobacco-related diseases and ailments in Dimapur. The camp concluded on Tuesday. 
Of 442 patients diagnosed in the camp, more than 100 have been suggested for follow up on biopsy and other related examinations. These included several women who were asked to go for pelvic sonography and breast examinations regularly every month after their cycle and annual follow up was advised for oral habit, informed CPAA executive director Neeta More.
More further said about 95 per cent of the patients screened in the camp were found afflicted with various tobacco related ailments. They were advised to go for regular ENT screening with local surgeons. 
Most of the women patients were explained about breast cancer which has become an important investigation in India. They were taught self examination of breast since it has been rated as number one cancer in urban and rural areas of the country, said More.  
She also suggested for more such camps to be organized regularly as nobody has gone through such detailed investigation which included different types of examinations that provided for early cancer detection. 
Terming oral cancer as the biggest problem and drain in health ministry, ENT surgeon Dr. Sanjay Ghildiyal said that government does not have funds for this kind of therapy. He therefore suggested that it would be better to create awareness of the ill effects of tobacco and all such products. 
The team would also be organizing the camp at circuit house Wednesday starting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the jawans and nearby residents. 
KOHIMA: Four-day medical camp which commenced from November 26 concluded at Naga Hospital Kohima on November 29.
According to DIPR report, in Kohima, a team of five doctors performed surgeries, echocardiologist, ultrasonography and distributed free medicines to the patients.
On the concluding day, Dr. Suparna Nirgudkar M.D (med), consultant physician and intensives and team leaders from Mumbai stated that maximum people were found to be treated with lifestyle disease of diabetes, heart problem and respiratory ailments. 
She also said that six (6) surgeries have been performed and more than sixty sonography of abdomen have been detected. Team leader, Dr. H.S. Palep said, the free medical camps have been organized through the inspiration of the Governor of Nagaland P.B. Acharya through the foundation of Dr. Keditsu, local leading gynecologist, initiative from Rotary Club of Bombay North and Indian National fellowship centre. Altogether hundreds of patients were treated and availed free medicines.
WOKHA: In Wokha, patients from in and around Wokha district have been availing the three-day free medical camp held at Dr. Motsuo, Memorial District Hospital. Five doctors from Mumbai comprising of surgeons, physician and psychiatrist along with 11 doctors from Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital are conducting the medical camp.
Around 700 patients have already availed the free medical camp and more patients are expected to visit the camp which would culminate on November 30.  Medical Superintendent Dr. M. M District Hospital has informed that the visiting doctors would be visiting Doyang on November 30 where medical camp would also be conducted there. 
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Wezope Kenye, while thanking the visiting doctors for the yeoman service, have also appealed to all the citizens of the district to make use of the free medical camp and get treated by accomplished group of doctors and surgeons.
