St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Shamator kicked off its annual games and sports meet 2023 on June 14 with EAC Shamator, Pauding Zeliang, as the special guest.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the special guest expressed his happiness seeing the young and energetic children, eager and willing to start the annual sports and games. He said that Shamator being a very new district, they lack so many sports equipment and infrastructures, however, he encouraged the students that they are lucky to have St. Xavier Hr. Sec. School for having fulfilled all the needs and requirements.
Zeliang asserted that games and sports is an important event, which is held only once in a year and urged the students optimize the opportunity provided by the school. He also maintained that through sports, they learn many things and values such as leadership, team work and spirit of brotherhood. “In Nagaland, now we have many emerging talents in the field of sports and in a small district of Shamator, there are many talented and skilled people”, he added. He stated that not everything is class activity, but games and sports is essential part of life. Special guest also declared the games and sports meet open.
Special guest was received by the four houses with their beautiful marching and the drill was displayed by the juniors of the school. Pastor of the NAP Baptist Church, Akum invoked God’s blessing while choreography was performed by senior students of the school. Public forum officials and students’ union of the town witnessed the opening ceremony of the sports meet.
