Er. Picto calls for disposal of pending court cases

Parliamentary secretary fpr department of Law and Justice, Er. Picto Shohe on Saturday called for immediate disposal of pending court cases that have dragged on for more than five years.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the two-day “Refresher Training Programme of Panel Lawyers (PLs)” organised by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) here at Circuit House.
The parliamentary secretary also expressed the need for morning and evening courts in order to expedite the justice delivery process in the state.
While saying that citizens should know the concept of law, rights and duties, he informed there was sufficient fund for implementation of legal aid and related services in Nagaland and, therefore, urged upon the various sections of the department to work in tandem to strengthen the legal aid system.
Also speaking on the occasion, member secretary, NSLSA, Nino Iralu, NJS, in her keynote address stated training of PLs was necessitated to effectively render law to the common people.
She said NSLSA objective was to spread legal awareness and make law accessible to all.
Earlier, welcoming the participants, additional secretary, Department of Law and Justice, Ngamjok Konyak, highlighted the activities of the department. ToT (PLs) NSLSA, Cheliam Khiamnuiungan, gave an introduction of the training programme.
The inaugural session culminated with vote of thanks by principal District and Sessions Judge, Dimapur, G.H. Ramlia.
Para legal volunteers and PLs from all 11 districts of the state are taking part in the two-day training programme. Various topics will be presented by scholars and experts during the course of the training.
