Various organisation have expressed resentment at the alleged physical assault on one Paul Anche, D.B. II son of  G.B. Viyixe Village, Hewoto Anche allegedly by troops of 5 Assam Rifles (AR) after September 2 ambush by NSCN (K).
VSU: Viyixe Students’ Union (VSU) in a condemnation note, president VSU, Kiyekhu Yeptho has condemned the alleged physical assault.
It claimed that the incident happened within an hour of the firing incident that took place near Aghunato on September 2.Condemning the assault, VSU termed the alleged assault on Paul Anche as “barbaric” and “without any rhyme or reason.”
According to VSU, Paul Anche was returning home after attending duty in the ADC customary court Aghunato where he serves and was halted at the Tri Junction in Aghunato Town, some 4-5 Kilometres away from the reported site of firing incident, where many other people were also gathered.
VSU alleged that the 5 AR troops came rushing from the firing site towards the tri junction and started harassing the public who were gathered there. While others escaped, VSU claimed Paul Anche felt that being a D.B. II, he would be spared but the 5 AR troops “grabbed and surrounded him and started punching, kicking and hitting him with gun butts despite repeatedly announcing that he was a D.B. serving under ADC Customary Court Aghunato.”
The union stated that Paul Anche was beaten up “black and blue” by the time administration officials and elders arrived, who rescued him and took him to the hospital.
WVVUD: Western Viyixe Village Union Dimapur (WVVUD) has also condemned the “barbaric act” of 5th AR on September 2 at Aghunato Town where one of its bonafide member Paul Anche was “manhandled without any reason.”
Condemning the alleged assault, president, WVVU, Yetovi Awomi and general secretary, Shenito Yeptho, urged upon the concerned authority to compensate the victim who was undergoing treatment for serious internal injuries. The union has also appealed to all the NPGs to restrain themselves from such activities especially in public areas.
