Storm destroy houses at Ralan, Medziphema areas

Cyclonic storm lashed the state on August 25 afternoon, have destroyed scores of houses at Ralan area and Medziphema sub-division, said administrations of the two areas in a press statement on Friday. 

According to report from SDO (C) Ralan, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, more than 50 houses have been completely destroyed by the storm at Yanpha village under Ralan area. 

The storm also lashed parts of Ruzaphema village and Piphema new village under Medziphema sub-division, ADC Medziphema said.  Around six dwelling (kaacha houses) and around ten houses including granaries were partially damaged. 

However, there was no report of any casualties/injuries. District administration Dimapur visited the affected area and immediate relief was provided to the affected villagers, ADC said.  In Piphema New village, it was reported that some houses were partially damaged by the wind and standing crops from the paddy fields around the village were also destroyed.
