
Kohima District Science seminar was held on August 24 at T.M Govt Hr Sec School Kohima on the Topic “Pulses for Sustainable Food Security”- Prospects and Challenges, with principal Kohima Collage, Dr.Watijungshi Jamir, as chief guest
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest while highlighting the lack of management in the state, stated that management was all about mindset.
Emphasizing his point, Jamir lamented that Nagaland was rich in mineral potential, natural resources and should ideally be self sufficient in production, but all industries and factories in Nagaland have failed because of mismanagement.
He challenged the young students and the young upcoming scientists to change their mindset and bring a change to cope with the changing world.
As a point in case Jamir said 20 years back the situation of South Korea was worse than Nagaland in all aspects, however the country has advanced in political, social, and economic life and doing much better than many developed countries.
Their life standard and their behaviour have changed tremendously because of the change of their mind set, Jamir said. Altogether 11 schools participated in the event where Neitseingu-ii Solo class X of Mezhur Hr Sec School , Kohima bagged the 1st position and Philomena Rutsa class X of Don Bosco Hr Sec School, Kohima was placed in the 2nd position.
The competition was judge by district project officer, Land Resource Kohima, Dr. Menuosietuo Tseikha and K.Micheal Pienyii Scientist (Plant Protection) KVK Kohima and Ponchulo Wanth Sr. Sc teacher RGHSS , Kohima.
The programme was chaired by Sr. supervisor, Adult Education, Alesh Thong and JEO of District Education Office, Kohima, Vilanuo Angela pronounced vote of thanks.
