Phek DPDB concurs to award meritorious students

In commemoration of ‘World Population Day 2011’ on the theme ‘Small family overall development’, the monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting Phek was held at deputy commissioner’s conference hall on Monday.
The meeting was graced by the five legislators of the district.
Welcoming the August house gathering, outgoing chairman Deo Nukhu, advisor, art & culture, science & technology and new & renewable energy expressed contentment over the newly posted departmental heads and stated the district would witness developmental activities provided there was teamwork.
Addressing the members of the house, minister for health & family welfare, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, expressed his concern over the quality and workmanship of the ongoing developmental works taking place within the district.
With regard to 2011 census and the ongoing EPIC & PER photography, Azo said the two were equally important for citizens of the country and urged them to sincerely pursue their assigned duties in consultation with the department in-charge, adding the entire legislators of the district would lend its best effort for the interest of the district as well as the Nagas.
Deliberating on the agenda/agendum tabled during the meeting, the house fully voted to award meritorious HSLC & HSSLC toppers from the district to be implemented from the next academic examination.
The house further endorsed the last constituted committee with DC as chairman, DEO as member secretary and DIS from Phek, Meluri, Pfutsero and Chozuba as members.
Meanwhile, parliamentary secretary for social welfare, child & women development, Chotisu Sazo, parliamentary secretary for tourism, law & justice, Yitachu also spoke and inducted chairman Neiba Kronu, Deputy Chairman SPB on the occasion.
An obituary reference was also made for late Guthoshe, EE, Irrigation & Flood Control who passed away on June 12 last at NHAK Kohima.
