
Assam Rifles on Wednesday inducted 100 women out of 157 newly recruits during the Attestation Parade held at the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Sukhovi, Dimapur.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, reviewed the parade of the new recruits and awarded medals to the outstanding soldiers.
In his address, Rijiju said Assam Rifles, one of the oldest paramilitary forces in the country, was playing a diversified role by providing security, social services and other means of assistance to the general public.
Minister of state also acknowledged the important role Assam Rifles possess considering the security concerns of the Northeast region.
While reminding the ultimate sacrifice of the soldier for the country, Rijiju called upon the new recruits to give their best for their motherland.
He also thanked the parents for letting their children join the forces for the security of the nation.
Rijiju exhorted soldiers to keep up the good name of the force with hard work and dedication while keeping the Assam Rifles flag flying high in the true spirit with its taglines ‘Sentinels of the North East’ and ‘Friends of the Hill People’. He further lauded Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt General, HJS Sachdev, for leading the force to its present stature and providing the futuristic window for its expansion.
Rijiju also complimented Brigadier K Narayanan, Commandant ARTC & S and his team of dedicated staff for imparting value based training to the recruits.
Reviewing Officer presented awards to the passing out recruits for their outstanding performance during the training.
Sharda Bhardwaj, Dilawar Singh and T Raju Singh were awarded the medals for being the Best All Round Recruits in women and men recruit category. Irene L was awarded the medal for being best in Drill.
A host of dignitaries during the Attestation Parade included Pakistan-born Bollywood singer Adnan Sami, Nagaland Home Minister, Y Patton, Minister for School Education and SCERT, Yitachu, Parliamentary Secretary for PWD (Housing) Er. Levi Rengma, NIDC chairman, Tovihoto Ayemi MLA and Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Liremo Lotha.
The new recruits performed variety of drills, march past and passing out parade.
