Sand Mahaldar & Suppliers Association (SMSA) has agreed to lift the temporary Bandh on the export of river sand to Nagaland with effect from April 8, 2016.
In a press release, Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce (KACC) chairman Augustine Kramsa stated that a mutual understanding was reached at the meeting held April 6, 2016 in Lahorijan, Karbi Anglong. The meeting was attended by KACC chairman Augustine Kramsa, Karbi Anglong Truck Owners Welfare Association (KATOWA) president Nungsung Ao, all the drivers under KATOWA and others.
After a thorough discussion, the meeting also resolved to do all the financial transactions solely at SMSA’s Headquarters, Manja, Karbi Anglong, and not at the river sand ghats of Karbi Anglong.
This was resolved in order to avoid “unnecessary confusions and misunderstandings” among the Mahaldars and the truck owners and drivers of Nagaland.
Meanwhile, SMSA has regretted for inconveniences to the general public.
Karbi Anglong Chamber of Commerce chairman Augustine Kramsa has appreciated the SMSA, responsible truck owners and drivers for attending the meeting and amicably resolving the matter.
