Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench has granted four weeks to the state government to respond on the PIL filed by Lotha Hoho with regard to Nagaland Petroleum and Natural Gas (NP&NG) rules and regulations.
Sources from the Lotha Hoho informed Nagaland Post that the second hearing was held on March 21, after which the court granted four weeks time to the state government to respond to the PIL.
It may be mentioned that Lotha Hoho filed a PIL at the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, challenging the validity of the NP&NG Regulations and rules 2012.
Further, it also questioned the impugned permit dated 28/2/2014 issued in favour of MOGPL for mixed operations (exploration, production/extraction and refining bottling) of petroleum and natural gas in of Wokha district. It was informed that the next hearing would be listed after four weeks.
It may be noted that the GHC, Kohima Bench had in an order dated October 8, 2015 directed that exploration and drilling permits issued by the Nagaland government be stayed. It further termed the NP&NG Rules and Regulations, 2012 as “legally questionable.”
