Old Jalukie Village Council (OJVC) and Jalukie Pumling Nko (JPN) has expressed serious concern over rampant exploitation of land and resources under its jurisdiction by ways of deforestation, hunting and illegal sale and buying of lands without the consent of the concerned authorities.
A joint press release issue by the two organizations through Irai Hingleu, secretary resented that despite several warnings and ban notice declared on numerous occasions, deforestation and hunting by unscrupulous people continued in an offensive manner.
It also lamented that the trend of selling/buying of land under its jurisdiction without permission/knowledge of OJVC and JPN has hampered preservation and conservation of environment and this was being done despite caution that the buyers or sellers bypassing the warning shall be doing so at their own risk.
Pointing out that the mania of illegal sale or buying of land has disadvantaged land owners of protecting their own land and in the process endangering wildlife and environment, the two organizations once again informed that buying and selling of land within its jurisdiction, particularly Kejanglwa village shall stand null and void.
It also asked inhabitants to maintain hygiene within its jurisdiction and warned that human habitation within parameter of the preserved area especially around the water source is considered an offense. In this connection, it has urged the administration to check the issue in the interest of the general public.
