Reacting to NPCC’s allegations on Naga People’s Front (NPF)-led DAN’s mismanagement and mis-governance, NPF Tuesday said the Congress was resorting to personal attacks especially at the chief minister and his family members and by doing so, it has only demeaned itself.
In a statement, NPF said NPCC has exposed to the Nagas, the mental makeup of its leaders.
“The opposition leaders of the Congress in Nagaland has also once again exposed its political immaturity as it has taken its consistent strategy of personalized attacks, below the belt politics and an approach that is unbecoming of what it calls itself as the grand old party of India, “ said NPF.
Stating that it would not stoop to the level of the Congress, NPF said differentiated itself as “mature and responsible political party” that was respected as a symbol of “regionalism.”
“Personalized attacks on our leaders will not be replied to as, we are above such low levels of politics and we have much more important issues and matters to attend to,” said NPF.
It has accused the Congress of losing touch with the people and becoming devoid of policies related to people’s welfare.
NPF also reiterated that Congress has lost all moral authority to play the role of an opposition staring that a responsible opposition has to be constructive and positive in its approach.
The party said it expected the Congress to make positive contributions besides taking up issues that were of public importance and making recommendations that were constructive.
Stating that the Congress was expected to understand the pulse of the people and have a direct connect with its constituents, NPF alleged that the party has become “anti-people in attitude, approach and ideology.”
NPF asserted that the court of democracy was “the final word” in a free and just society and defeat has failed to make the Congress understand their true position and status.
An unacceptable political stand, an alien political culture and acting as agents of outsiders against the Naga people is the reality of the Congress party’s image amongst the Nagas, said NPF.
NPF recalls Cong misdeeds
NPF pointed out Congress in Nagaland continued to battle with its past reputation and track record stating that development had come to a standstill during its regime.
There were lack of avenues or opportunities for the youth and law and order was in shambles, said NPF and pointed out that Congress leaders had to move under the cover of bullet-proof cars and were restricted within the confines of Kohima and Dimapur.
NPF alleged that during the Congress rule, the machinery of the state government was run like “personal fiefdom” and financial misappropriation became the order of the day as financial embargo was imposed by the Centre.
The party reaffirmed that it would continue to serve the people with renewed zeal and effort and would not be discouraged or distracted by the “barking of a party and its leaders.”
