At present, Indian agriculture has been more concerned with food production, nutritional security, sustainability etc., in the wake of much talked about climate change or global warming.
National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project, which is an ongoing project at ICAR Research Complex, NEH region, Nagaland centre has been trying to create awareness amongst the farming community through various activities like training programmes, trails etc.
A day long training programme was organized on July 25, at Molvom village, Dimapur on integrated fish farming system in the scenario of climate change.
Participants comprised of farmers and rural youths from nearby villages and were apprised of the impact of climate change on agriculture and allied sectors through topics like importance, specifications, management of fisheries, selection of fingerlings, integrated fish farming and selection of soil types for different components of integrated farming systems.
Queries of the participants were satisfactorily answered by panel of experts, Dr. Ebibeni and SMS, KVK Dimapur, James Kikon , Bikash Sharma and Technical personnel, ICAR, Meren Jamir.
The trainees gain knowledge to adapt on the changing situations and improve agricultural production system with improved technological knowhow on the different component as well as aspects of integrated fish farming.
