GPRN/NSCN president “Gen. (Retd.)” Khole Konyak, in consultation with National security council, has appointed “Lt. Gen” Neokpao Konyak to succeed him as the next “commander-in-chief of the Naga Army”, besides “Brig.” Samson Aye as “deputy chief” and “Brig.” Vihoto Chophy, “GSO I Naga Army”, a release issued by MIP stated Wednesday.
According to MIP release, a special prayer programme was conducted at a joint council meeting at the Oking to bless the new “c-in-c, “dy. c-in-c” and “GSO I of the Naga army.”
The MIP state that an order issued through memo no. APP/NA/1-1/2011-12, described the new c-in-c as a “distinguished military officer” with unblemished track record over the past three decades in the “Naga army.”
“GPRN/NSCN president Gen. (Retd) Khole Konyak expressed hope that the new Army Chief, a simple yet astute military man would guide the Naga Army in defending the Nation,” the MIP said.
The MIP said “Brig.” Samson Aye’s strong character and unwavering commitment to the Nation was duly acknowledged and recognised.
It also described “Brig.” Vihoto Chophy as an experienced soldier who would not part with revolutionary ethics.
