Reacting to the July 24 news report published in one of the local dailies– “Centre prepared to accept 80% of the NSCN (IM)’s demand for solution of Naga solution: PWC”, chief minister T.R. Zeliang refuted  the report and termed it as “misleading” during the Assembly Session on Friday.
In an embarrassment to media persons present in the house, other legislators during the discussion also questioned the media on the misleading report. Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang clarified that government of India or anyone in authority in Delhi, never assured or said that they were prepared to accept 80% of the demands put forth by NSCN (I-M).
He said: “Prime Minister only stated that even if the solution worked out by the negotiating parties does not satisfy 100% of the people’s expectation, the Naga people should be prepared to accept it, otherwise it would be very difficult to arrive at a solution”.
In this regard, Zeliang said Prime Minister had cited an example that even if 80% of the expectations were met, the door should be kept open for the remaining 20% to be implemented in due course of time.
Meanwhile, BJP legislator and Advisor, Dr. T.M Lotha also clarified on the same during the discussion hour.
