
In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his wife and elder son (8-9 years old) by slitting their throats with a machete (dao) and left the younger son (4-5 years old) seriously injured at Kirha village, near Airport junction in Dimapur on July 23.
According to police, the victims were found in a pool of blood with deep cut wounds on their necks suspected to have been inflicted with a machete. The injured child also bore cut wounds in the neck and has been admitted to hospital, police said.
The accused, currently at large, has been identified as one Vikas Kachari while the deceased were identified as Laxmi (wife) and Tunu (son).
A case has been registered at Diphupar Police station while the bodies were handed over to community elders after observing necessary formalities. With efforts on to nab the accused, police has appealed to all to provide information.
Kirha village condemns: Kirha Village Council (KVC), Kirha Village Women Society (KVWS), Kirha Village Youth Organization (KVYO) have vehemently condemned the incident.
In a joint statement, KVC, KVWS and KVYO stated that the accused Vikash alias Moheshori Boruah hailed from Vilaguri village, Merapani (Assam) and was presently residing at Kirha village as mason. Kirha village bodies identified the wife as Laxmi alias Mughali and deceased son Donu (5-year-old) while the injured son as Vijay (4-year-old).
While lauding the Diphupar police for their timely intervention, the village council requested the law enforcing agencies to arrest the accused at the earliest and punish as per the law and assured all possible help.
Meanwhile, the council mourned the deaths and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members.
