Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU) an apex students’ body has strongly extended  support the representation given to the state government by the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) demanding for the justification report on the failure of the State government for non implementation of the 25% job reservation guaranteed to the Eastern Nagas since 1977.
In a press release, CCSU president Imtichoba and vice president Kelep Chang questioned when the state government have employees employment of more than 1, 50,000 why the employment status of Eastern Naga’s have less than 15% saying it is a direct injustice to equal opportunity and representatives in the government.
CCSU said that government employees from the Chang Community are very less where 90% are IV Grades only adding that it was painful that even the IV Grades which was to be reserved 100% for the indigenous inhabitant were being appointed and sent from the “so called high level depriving the indigenous people”.
In addition to this, CCSU claimed that “many employees” were transferred out along with post out of the district to other district in the verge of their retirement and when they retire, vacancies are created in that district and used to fill up from that particular tribe and district. The student body said this is a direct manipulation by the state government as to fulfil their selfish interest.
CCSU also claimed that even in the directorate and secretariat level, no department have implemented the 25% job reservation even after the state government have given official notification on the same.
The student body then stated that as per this year employee’s data collection, in some department that there are more employees of other tribes than indigenous inhabitants in Tuensang district.
In this regard, the confederation has asked the state government to justify the ENSF demand at the earliest without any hesitation and also warned all HoD’s of Tuensang district to strictly adhere to the state government notification on job reservation policy. Failing to comply, CCSU said the concern will be held solely responsible.
