Reacting to the statement issued by eight suspended Congress MLAs, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) said it was unfortunate that the eight suspended Congress legislators “have kept on defending the decision to join the NPF-led government even at the expense of compromising the ideology and principle of the INC by sailing in the same boat with the communal BJP”.
In a rejoinder, NPCC media cell maintained that the directive of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) was very clear from the beginning, “that the Congress has nothing to do what the BJP and should refrain from taking part in the Government should the BJP remain the partner of NPF”.
It also reminded the suspended Congress legislators to note that directive of the AICC was supreme.
NPCC stated that the resolution adopted on March 9, 2015 by the state PCC Executive Committee, endorsing the CLP to join the government, “cannot bypass the directive of the AICC issued at the later stage”.
On the matter of AICC issuing directive, asking CLP members not to join the government, NPCC said it was conveyed through its president who at a press conference held on May 6, 2015. This clearly implied the stand of the Congress high command, NPCC added.
It further pointed out that the second directive of the AICC issued before the recently concluded budget session was also ignored by the suspended legislators, citing lack of any official communication accept through media.
Since the suspended Congress legislators had deliberately ignored the directive of the AICC on two major counts, NPCC stated that the AICC was “well within its right to take further disciplinary action even to the extent of moving disqualification process against the eight MLAs”.
“Having being part of the grand old national party, the suspended MLAs are well aware of its functioning and must therefore abide by the party directive rather than justify their action of joining the NPF led government which the AICC had totally rejected”, it added.

In a letter to NPCC president, the ACCCs said in view of the ongoing development and expectations of the grass root level party workers in the district, urged upon the president to revoke the suspension of eight INC MLAs in the greater interest and survival of the party.
It said that the suspension of the MLAs was detrimental to the grass root level party workers.
The ACCCs expressed confidence that the president would accept their request, which would allow the party gain from strength to strength and to give a better future for the state.
